Computer-Guided Implant Surgery Computer-guided implant surgery allows for more precise and accurate placement of dental implants than traditional methods using computerized tomography (CT) scans of the jaw to create 3-D images of the oral structures. The implants are planned as per the bone availability and anatomical limitations; a special computer program uses this information to create a surgical template that is used to determine the optimal locations for placement.
Advantages
1. Reduced Risks with more predictable outcome : Computer-guided implant technology makes it possible to see the anatomical structures of the jaw, teeth, and surrounding tissue, thereby reducing the risks of unexpected complications during surger as well as allowing the surgeon to know exactly where the implant should be placed.
Reduced Surgical Time : Because a precise surgical template is created, there is no guesswork with guided implant surgery. This allows the procedure to be completed faster than traditional dental implant surgery so patients can start the recovery process sooner.
3.Better Patient Education : Computer-guided implant technology is based on detailed scans of the oral structures. These images may be used to explain the dental implant procedure as well as to educate patients about their oral health.
4.Guided Implant Surgery Can Immediately Restore Dental Function : Traditional implant surgery requires several months to heal before dental function can be fully restored. With computer-guided implant surgery, many candidates can receive same-dayimplants. Same-day restorations allow patients to enjoy restored dental function after only one treatment.
5.Implants Can Often Be Placed in Compromised Jawbone : Long-term tooth loss can cause the jawbone to atrophy or change shape. Using computer-guided technology, it's possible to see the unique structure of each patient's jawbone. This allows for the ideal placement of dental implants even when the jawbone is compromised.
6.Helps With Placement of Additional Implants : Computer-guided surgery may also be beneficial for those who have existing dental implants. Computer-guided technology makes it possible to see the precise location of existing implants, ensuring that additional implants are placed in the ideal locations.
